What are the symptoms of a polyp of the cervix?
With advanced tumors, pain or urinary frequency occasionally occurs, especially in cases of anterior wall tumors. Constipation or tenesmus has been seen with tumors involving the posterior vaginal wall.
These tumors usually are diagnosed by direct biopsy of the tumor mass, and abnormal cytologic cancer often will lead to diagnosis of a vaginal cancer. Premalignant disease of and vagina generally is detected on cytologic screening. Once an abnormal cytology is obtained, a biopsy directed by colposcopic examination is required to verify the severity of changes.
